SC Logistics Consulting Deliverables Library

A deliverable is a specific output that the client receives and that enables a decision or action. “Strategic recommendations” is not a deliverable. A 30-page distribution operations assessment with a prioritized opportunity list, financial sizing for the top five opportunities, and a 12-week quick-win roadmap is a deliverable.

This library is organized by engagement type. Each entry covers: format, typical length or scope, and the decision or action the deliverable enables. Use it when writing SOW deliverable sections, scoping proposals, or explaining to a client what they will actually receive.

When writing any deliverable into a proposal, always specify format, depth (concept-level vs. schematic vs. detailed), recipient, and the decision it enables. A deliverable that enables a named decision is worth more in a proposal than one that merely produces information.

  • Relationship to FDS: the Functional Design Specification (FDS) is one step below the SFS — it defines HOW the software implements the functions described in the SFS. An SFS states “the system shall route no-reads to lane 45”; the FDS specifies the data tag structure, PLC logic, and WCS screen that implement it. SFS is typically produced by the consultant or owner team; FDS is produced by the integrator after contract award
